TIKTOK SEXUAL ABUSE LAWSUITS

Nationwide Representation for Victims of Sexual Abuse involving TikTok

TikTok Sexual Abuse Lawsuits involve allegations that the platform allegedly enabled grooming, exploitation, and abuse of minors.

Levy Konigsberg is investigating claims that minors were allegedly targeted and exploited on TikTok, with some cases leading to in-person sexual encounters.

TikTok is a social media platform used all over the world. However, reports have compared it to a dark corner of the internet where the exploitation of minors allegedly occurs. Reported incidents describe predators using the platform to target and groom children, leading to cases involving sexual coercion, trafficking, and assault. Lawsuits filed by state attorneys allege the facility turned a blind eye to these risks to prioritize profits, specifically regarding features like TikTok LIVE and virtual currency that were allegedly used to facilitate sexual exploitation and expose minors to harm.

History of Sexual Abuse Involving TikTok

Examples of sexual abuse and exploitation that have reportedly occurred on or through TikTok include:

Connecticut

  • In February 2026, James Pagliaro pleaded guilty to child exploitation offenses after allegedly using TikTok to prey on children.

In approximately October 2024, Pagliaro allegedly began messaging a youth from Connecticut on TikTok and met with the victim multiple times to engage in sexual conduct.

The investigation further revealed that he allegedly initiated contact with thousands of other children using the platform.

    Pennsylvania

    • In February 2026, Zachariah Abraham Meyers, a senior at Peters Township High School in Pennsylvania, was arrested and charged with over 300 felonies for allegedly running a criminal network that involved sexual extortion and trafficking.

Meyers allegedly used TikTok and other social media platforms to catfish and lure underage boys. He allegedly coerced at least 21 victims into sending explicit pornographic videos and images of themselves.

    • In March 2026, Angel Lopez was arrested and charged with kidnapping, trafficking, and sexual assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.

The victim allegedly stayed in contact with Lopez for four days through TikTok before she was transported to Philadelphia. The victim was then allegedly given drugs and sexually assaulted.

The investigation revealed messages and graphic videos between Lopez and the victim.

      Minnesota

According to the lawsuit, viewers were able to send virtual currency to minors on TikTok LIVE  in exchange for sexual content.

As alleged in the complaint, TikTok is allegedly aware of how it compromises youths’ safety. TikTok has acknowledged that it fails to catch a significant percentage of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) on the platform. Internal surveys further revealed that 40% of users came across such harmful content.

        Utah

        • In January 2026, Jason Michael Armstrong was arrested in Utah for allegedly grooming a 15-year-old girl he met on TikTok.

Armstrong allegedly catfished the victim by lying about his age and engaged in sexual acts with the victim at his apartment.

The lawsuit compares TikTok Live to a virtual strip club where childrenpaid using virtual currency that could be cashed out for real moneyperform sexually explicit acts, like stripping or dancing provocatively

TikTok’s safety features were allegedly ineffective and meaningless, allowing youths to use the feature despite evidence it was used by predators to target and groom youths.

In addition, TikTok’s virtual currency was designed to look like cartoons to make it more appealing to a young audience.

As detailed in the filed complaint, TikTok allegedly prioritized profit over childrens’ safety.

Who Can You Sue in a TikTok Sex Abuse Civil Case?

In a sex abuse civil case, the parties you might sue can vary depending on the circumstances of the abuse and the relationships involved.

Some potential parties that could be sued in a sex abuse civil case include:

          • Individual Perpetrator: The alleged perpetrator of the sexual abuse can be named as a defendant in the lawsuit. This is often the person who directly committed the abusive acts.
          • Institutions, Organizations and Companies: If the abuse occurred within an institution or organization or on an online platform, if the institution or company failed to take appropriate action to prevent or address the abuse, they might also be held liable.
          • Employers: If the perpetrator was an employee of an organization or institution, the employer might be held vicariously liable for the actions of their employee if the abuse occurred within the scope of their employment.
          • Property Owners: If the abuse occurred on a property owned by someone else, and the property owner failed to provide adequate security or take reasonable steps to prevent the abuse, they might be considered liable.
          • Government Entities: In some cases, government entities might be involved, especially if the abuse occurred within a state institution or facility. Suing a government entity might involve specific procedures and limitations.

Sex abuse cases can be legally complex, so it’s highly advisable to consult with experienced legal professionals who specialize in this area to understand your options and pursue the appropriate legal action. Levy Konigsberg, along with our team of sexual abuse lawyers, is available to provide assistance for your sexual abuse case.

          Do I Have a Case?

You may have grounds to file a civil legal action if you were sexually exploited through any online game, or any social media app.

As civil claims, these cases are separate from any criminal proceedings that may arise from abuse and focus instead on holding institutions and companies liable for damages. This means you may still have a claim even if:

          • Your abuser is no longer alive.
          • Your abuser was never charged with or convicted of a crime.
          • You do not know the true identity of the abuser, but rather know only the screen name or online persona of the abuser.

Recoverable Damages in Sexual Abuse Claims

In addition to providing accountability and a sense of justice, civil sex abuse lawsuits allow survivors to recover financial compensation for their damages, which may include:

            • Past medical and mental health expenses
            • Future mental health expenses, including therapy, medications, etc.
            • Pain and suffering
            • Emotional anguish and psychological harm
            • Lost income
            • Other economic and non-economic damages
