Roblox Sexual Abuse Lawsuits involve allegations children were allegedly groomed, exploited, or abused through Roblox and connected online platforms.

Levy Konigsberg is investigating claims that children were allegedly targeted by predators through Roblox and related messaging platforms across the United States.

Roblox is a popular online gaming platform with over 78 million daily users. But beneath the colorful avatars and virtual worlds of Roblox lies a darker reality—Roblox has reportedly become a hunting ground for sexual predators. 

Oftentimes, predators will meet or groom a child on Roblox and then move the child to Discord, another platform rife with the sexual abuse of children, to further message with the child and engage in sexual abuse and exploitation, including pressuring the child to send explicit photos, to meet in person to engage in physical sexual abuse, or to send the child explicit content.

History of Sexual Abuse involving Roblox

Examples of sexual abuse and exploitation that have reportedly occurred on or through Roblox include:

• In September 2025, a mother filed a lawsuit against Roblox and Discord for wrongful death following her son tragically committing suicide after being sexually coerced by an adult predator into sending explicit photos on the platforms.  According to the lawsuit, Ethan Dallas, an autistic teen known as the class clown and the star pitcher on a baseball team for kids with disabilities, made a new friend on Roblox after a player who said he was a child named Nate started messaging him.  The pair would play Roblox every day and talk late into the night.  According to the lawsuit, Nate eventually showed Ethan how to disable some of the parental controls his parents had set up.  The conversations then allegedly turned sexual and moved to the messaging app Discord, where Nate demanded Ethan send explicit photos of himself, threatening to share their messages otherwise, according to the lawsuit.  Dallas’s mental health and behavior deteriorated so much so that he was placed in a residential treatment center.  Dallas eventually reported to his mother the communications with Nate.  Tragically, after disclosing to his mother that he felt “worthless,” Dallas committed suicide.  A year later, in April 2025, Florida law enforcement told the mother that “Nate” was likely Timothy O’Connor, a 37-year-old man who was arrested on separate charges of possessing child pornography and transmitting harmful material to minors.  In December 2023, O’Connor was deemed mentally unfit to stand trial, according to public records.  More than 20 lawsuits accusing Roblox of enabling sexual exploitation have reportedly been filed in federal courts so far just in 2025.
• In April 2026, Roblox agreed to pay $35.8 million in settlements to West Virginia, Alabama, and Nevada regarding allegations that it failed to adequately protect children from predators. 
• In May 2025, Christian Scribben was accused of using Roblox to manipulate children into sending him explicit material.  He allegedly instructed kids as young as 8 to molest their younger siblings and record the abuse.  Authorities discovered conversations related to these acts on Roblox, Discord, and through text messages.
• In July 2024, it was reported that children were allegedly targeted by predators using Roblox.  It was further reported that at the time, police had arrested at least two dozen people accused of abducting or abusing victims they met or groomed through Roblox since 2018. Cases included a Florida man accused of trying to kidnap a teen he met on the platform, a man charged with abducting an 11-year-old girl from New Jersey, and a California man who allegedly abused a child he also met on Roblox. In 2020, Clinton McElroy, a 48-year-old registered sex offender in Ellis, Kansas, met an 8-year-old girl on Roblox. He reportedly traded thousands of Robux for more than 20 explicit images and videos the young female victim shot of herself.  In 2022, Shane Patrick Penczak, a 45-year-old from North Port, Florida, was charged with sexually exploiting children. He reportedly confessed to exploiting a 13-year-old boy he met on Roblox by exchanging gift cards and thousands of dollars’ worth of Robux for explicit photos and videos. In May 2022, a 15-year-old girl from Indiana was reported missing. Arnold Castillo, a Roblox developer from Paterson, New Jersey, was charged with sexual crimes for allegedly transporting the young girl across state lines. Using several pseudonyms, Castillo allegedly sent Amazon packages to the girl, built her trust, and convinced her to leave home. She was missing for eight days, during which they reportedly had multiple sexual encounters. In private chats, Castillo allegedly referred to the girl and other young girls as “sex slaves.” 

• In May 2019, a mother reported that an online predator groomed her minor son through Roblox into sending explicit photos.

Arkansas

• In June 2026, the Arkansas Attorney General filed a lawsuit against Roblox and Discord alleging the platform deliberately engineered conditions that enabled child predators, including withholding age-verification technology, rejecting internal proposals to warn children of grooming behavior to protect engagement metrics, and paying developers who built sexually explicit content on the platform. The filing noted that Roblox’s own mandatory reports to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children documented 675 instances of suspected child sexual exploitation in 2019, rising to more than 13,000 by 2023.

Nevada

• In June 2026, a Nevada family filed a lawsuit against Roblox alleging the platform failed to protect their 11-year-old daughter from an adult male who posed as a teenage boy, groomed her through the platform’s communication features, and sexually exploited her. The family alleged Roblox prioritized company growth over user safety and lacked meaningful age-verification safeguards.

Louisiana

• In June 2026, Louisiana authorities arrested a registered sex offender who was actively using voice-changing technology on Roblox to pose as a teenage girl while communicating with a 14-year-old child. Louisiana’s Attorney General, who had previously filed her own lawsuit against Roblox, stated the state was on track to receive 90,000 tips about online child exploitation in 2026 alone.
• In August 2025, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill filed a child protection lawsuit against Roblox alleging that the platform enables sexual exploitation and fails to safeguard minors from predators.  The lawsuit further claims that Roblox has facilitated the distribution of child sexual abuse material, failed to implement basic safety controls, and withheld warnings from parents and young users about the platform’s risks.

California

• In July 2026, a lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of California alleging that Roblox failed to protect an Oregon girl who was groomed by a serial predator on the platform beginning when she was 8 years old in 2016. 

The predator allegedly represented himself as a child, gained her trust through a Roblox dress-up game, and eventually entered into a romantic relationship with her before attempting to convince her to run away with him. 

The lawsuit accused Roblox of portraying its platform as safe for children while designing the app in ways that make children easily accessible to predators, and of prioritizing user growth over basic child safety features.

• In February 2026, Los Angeles County filed a civil lawsuit against Roblox alleging it exposed children to sexual content, exploitation, and online predators. The complaint claimed that the company failed to use proper moderation and age-verification tools despite marketing itself as a safe environment for minors. 

In December 2025, a family in Southern California filed a separate lawsuit alleging that a child was exposed to a sexual predator through the gaming platform.

• In August 2025, a mother in California filed a federal lawsuit against Roblox, alleging the platform enabled predators to sexually exploit her 10-year-old daughter.  According to the lawsuit, the daughter began using the Roblox app at age 8.  In 2024, while using Roblox to play games, she reportedly met a predator who claimed also to be a child. The plaintiff alleges the predator built a rapport of emotional connection and trust with the girl, then began sending graphic messages and sexually explicit images of himself before convincing her to reciprocate.
• In August 2025, a lawsuit was filed in California alleging that Roblox and Discord failed to protect the plaintiff parents’ 10-year-old daughter from being abducted by a predator.  According to the lawsuit, 27-year-old Matthew Macatuno Naval posed as a minor to contact the girl through Roblox. Then, the conversation reportedly moved to Discord, where the child was allegedly groomed and manipulated into sharing her home address.  The lawsuit alleges that Naval then abducted the girl from her home in Taft, California, about two hours north of Los Angeles. She was reportedly eventually found hundreds of miles away in his vehicle after a frantic, multi-agency search.
• In April 2025, Roblox and Discord were sued in California for allegedly enabling the sexual exploitation of a minor who was coerced into sending explicit photos.  The lawsuit alleges the plaintiff’s harms were the direct result of both company’s lax safety standards and misrepresentation of safety protocols to parents.  For example, the predator allegedly sent the plaintiff messages through the “whisper” function even though her Roblox account “clearly displayed” she was a minor.  In time, the plaintiff was reportedly convinced to share her Discord username with the accused predator, leading to conversations on the popular chat platform where she was then coerced into sending sexually explicit images.

• In April 2025, Matthew Naval was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl he met on Roblox and later chatted with on Discord.  Police found him in his car in California with the girl at a strip mall far from her home.
• In February 2025, a lawsuit was filed in California against Roblox and Discord, accusing them of negligence that allowed Sebastian Romero to abuse a 13-year-old boy.  Romero allegedly groomed the boy and pressured him into sending explicit photos and videos. A search of Romero’s home revealed evidence suggesting he had exploited over 25 other minors.
• In October 2022, a lawsuit was filed in California against Roblox, Discord, Snapchat, and Meta, accusing them of enabling adult men to sexually and financially exploit a young girl.  The men allegedly pressured her to drink, misuse prescription drugs, and send explicit photos. One of them reportedly convinced her to send him money.

Kentucky

• In October 2025, Kentucky’s attorney general filed a lawsuit against Roblox for what the AG called “creating a hunting ground for child predators.”  The Attorney General’s complaint alleges that Roblox: (1) created a playground for predators and international organizations with links to terrorist organizations to distribute child sexual abuse material; (2) became a facilitator for predators to target and groom young victims online before escalating to real-world sexual violence; (3) deliberately failed to implement effective safety measures to protect children from well-documented predatory threats; and (4) knowingly and intentionally failed to inform parents of the dangers lurking on the platform.  The Kentucky Attorney General has asked the court to permanently block Roblox from continuing its conduct in Kentucky and to be penalized up to $2,000 for each willful violation.

Georgia

• In August 2025, a woman in Georgia filed a complaint against Roblox after her child was allegedly groomed and abused while playing on the platform.   According to the lawsuit, the then-9-year-old metro Atlanta child was targeted by several predators pretending to be fellow children. They allegedly sent the child sexually explicit messages, images and videos, later extorting the child by threatening to send the materials to friends at school.  The lawsuit, one of many filed against Roblox in multiple states, alleges that Roblox makes it easy for predators to contact children and actively tried to bring in adult users after the game blew up among children during the pandemic, knowing the new demographic had more money to spend.

Iowa

• In July 2025, Levy Konigsberg’s co-counsel filed a lawsuit on behalf of a 13-year-old girl and her family, alleging that the girl had been groomed, kidnapped, and abused by a man she met through Roblox. The lawsuit alleges that Roblox’s lack of basic safety protections allowed a predator to target the girl and groom her over time, before eventually kidnapping her from her Iowa home and taking her across state lines, where he ultimately raped her. In particular, according to the complaint, Roblox failed to require age verification or implement effective parental controls and had default settings that allowed adults to contact children through the platform.

Texas

• In May 2025, a lawsuit was filed against Roblox and Discord after a 13-year-old girl from Texas was allegedly groomed and sexually exploited by a predator she met on Roblox. The abuser reportedly used Discord to further communicate with her, gained access to her home, and recorded the abuse.

Do I Have a Case?

You may have grounds to file a civil legal action if you were sexually exploited through any online game, or any social media app.

As civil claims, these cases are separate from any criminal proceedings that may arise from abuse and focus instead on holding institutions and companies liable for damages. This means you may still have a claim even if:

• Your abuser is no longer alive.
• Your abuser was never charged with or convicted of a crime.
• You do not know the true identity of the abuser, but rather know only the screen name or online persona of the abuser.
