Dr. Amir Sitafalwalla’s History of Sexual Abuse
- In January 2026, former Queens urgent care doctor Amir Sitafalwalla, was sentenced to six years of probation in Queens County Criminal Court for abuse dating back to 2017.
Sitafalwalla pleaded guilty in October 2025 to one count of third-degree sexual abuse and five counts of forcible touching. As part of the sentence, he was required to surrender his medical license and register as a level 2 sex offender. The offenses involved five male victims, one of whom was a minor at the time the abuse occurred.
He was first arrested in March 2023 and was arrested again in September 2024 after more allegations were made.
- In August 2025, a 21-year-old patient filed a civil lawsuit in the Supreme Court of New York against Sitafalwalla and Modern MD Urgent Care, alleging that the doctor performed a medically unnecessary genital examination involving inappropriate touching at the Woodhaven facility in Queens.
The lawsuit noted that Sitafalwalla had a prior history of similar allegations. He was allegedly fired from CityMD in 2021 after being accused of sexually abusing two patients.
- In January 2023, Sitafalwalla allegedly sexually abused a male patient during a medical visit for a COVID test at ModernMD Urgent Care in Woodhaven.
According to the criminal complaint, he asked the patient to unbuckle his pants while lying on an examination bed, then allegedly grabbed and complimented the patient’s genitals while comparing them to his own. He also allegedly required the patient to remove his mask and kissed him.

Do I Have a Case?
You may have grounds to file a civil legal action if:
- You were sexually abused by a doctor or medical staff.
- The abuse occurred at any medical facility.
- You were sexually exploited or abused by someone in a position of power within an organization meant to provide support and care.
Levy Konigsberg represents survivors in civil lawsuits that aim to hold medical facilities and other facility operators accountable for their failures to stop abusive staff members and protect patients.
As civil claims, these cases are separate from any criminal proceedings that may arise from abuse and focus instead on holding institutions liable for damages. This means you may still have a claim even if:
- Your abuser is no longer alive.
- Your abuser was never charged with or convicted of a crime.
Recoverable Damages in Sexual Abuse Claims
In addition to providing accountability and a sense of justice, civil sex abuse lawsuits allow survivors to recover financial compensation for their damages, which may include:
- Past medical and mental health expenses
- Future mental health expenses, including therapy, medications, etc.
- Pain and suffering
- Emotional anguish and psychological harm
- Lost income
- Other economic and non-economic damages
