- In October 2023, Pasquale Salas, a former deputy with the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office, was sentenced to prison for producing and possessing child pornography after allegedly using Minecraft to meet and lure young girls online.
He allegedly met at least two girls while playing Minecraft and later formed a controlling, manipulative, and sexually exploitative relationship with one of them. He allegedly knew the child was underage but still had an online sexually explicit relationship with her, and he pressured her into sending hundreds of nude photos and videos. He allegedly imposed strict rules on her, tracked her location, and threatened harm to her and her family.
- In January 2017, it was reported that Adam Isaac had used Minecraft to groom two boys aged 12 and 14. He reportedly targeted them through the game and asked them to send intimate photos of themselves. The prosecutor said he allegedly sent the boys money on PayPal and used Minecraft as part of the grooming. The court also heard that he carried out sexual acts while on video calls with the boys, and that he had indecent images of a third, unidentified boy.
