History of Dr. Scott Lee’s Sexual Abuse
In February 2025, six women filed a lawsuit against Dr. Scott Lee, alleging they were subjected to horrific mistreatment while in custody.
A federal court complaint claimed that Lee carried out abusive medical exams and coercive procedures, made inappropriate and sexualized remarks, and retaliated against incarcerated women who reported his misconduct.
Examples of Lee’s alleged abuse include the following:
- In December 2022, Lee allegedly insisted on performing a pelvic exam on Jane Doe 1, despite her visit being for a worsening skin condition that only required a prescription for topical cream.
Lee allegedly forcefully inserted his fingers into her, causing intense pain.
- In 2022, Lee allegedly became visibly angry and hostile when Jane Doe 2 refused to undergo a pap smear. The patient had previously undergone a hysterectomy, and according to the complaint, Lee claimed he needed to perform the exam to confirm she no longer had a cervix.
- According to Jane Doe 3, she was allegedly pressured by Lee to get an intrauterine device (IUD) instead of the Depo-Provera shot she requested.
Lee allegedly forcibly spread her legs apart and inserted a speculum without a lubricant.
- In April 2023, Jane Doe 4 was instructed to undress, and Dr. Lee allegedly refused to leave the room. It further alleged that he proceeded to inappropriately touch her, apply forceful pressure to her pelvic and vaginal areas, and digitally penetrate her.
- According to Jane Doe 6, Lee allegedly required her to undergo constant invasive procedures, including pelvic exams, pap smears, and biopsies. However, she often did not receive any results or follow-up care from these exams, which led to repeated invasive procedures by Lee.
Jane Doe 6 described the exams as extremely painful, and on one occasion, when she asked him to stop, he allegedly forced her legs open, leaving bruises on her thighs.
She also claimed that he inserted his finger into her anus without explanation or consent.
The lawsuit further claimed that prison officials were aware of his abusive behavior for years but failed to take action.
- In 2017, a formerly incarcerated woman accused Lee of mutilating her genitals under the guise of performing a biopsy. In her complaint, she warned that Lee was carrying out unnecessary procedures.
- In 2022, Lee was reported to the Medical Board of California for allegedly sexually abusing a pregnant patient and delaying her transfer to a hospital when she went into labor.
According to the lawsuit, no action was taken by officials in response to these allegations.
