Father James Campbell History of Sexual Abuse
- According to the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Appendix A report, Father James Campbell allegedly sexually assaulted a 15-year-old boy on multiple occasions between 1975 and 1976 in the rectory of St. Joseph Church in West Warwick, at a hotel in Narragansett, and at a hotel in Ohio. The alleged abuse included physical touching and digital penetration.
A second victim alleged Campbell repeatedly abused him for two years starting when he was 16 years old in 1973, during a trip to Ohio where he gave him alcohol and then digitally and anally raped him.
In December 2004, Campbell was convicted in Massachusetts of molesting two children and was sentenced to 90 days in prison and 10 years of supervised probation. He was required to register as a sex offender and was laicized by the Vatican.
