- In June 2025, Sean Sayer was arrested for allegedly demanding sexually explicit images and videos from an 8-year-old boy in Oregon. The boy reportedly sent Sayer at least 15 videos containing child sexual abuse material in exchange for playing Fortnite with him. Police found screenshots of Sayer’s Snapchat conversations with many other minors.
- In January 2025, Jacob Lozano was sentenced to prison for allegedly using Fortnite to groom pre-teen boys, including an 11-year-old from Arizona. Lozano allegedly lied about his age and contacted victims through Fortnite before moving their conversations to Discord. Police found Lozano’s conversations with multiple boys across at least three states, including Arizona, California, and Georgia.
- In August 2022, it was reported that a teacher in Tomball, Texas, Marka Bodine was sentenced to prison, probation, and required to register as a sex offender for allegedly using Fortnite to lure and sexually assault a 13-year-old student. Bodine allegedly exchanged explicit videos and photos with the victim over a three-year period.
- In January 2019, Anthony Gene Thomas was arrested for allegedly using Fortnite to manipulate and sexually abuse a 17-year-old victim. In August 2018, Anthony Gene Thomas and a co-conspirator allegedly transported the victim to Broward County, where Thomas allegedly sexually abused the victim. Police found pornographic images and videos of the victim on Thomas’s phone and stated there could be up to 20 additional victims.
- In September 2018, 24 men, including a police officer and a firefighter, were arrested for allegedly using online video games like Fortnite and social media apps to lure minors for sexual exploitation. The suspects allegedly posed as teenagers to engage 14- and 15-year-olds in conversations that became sexual, but they were actually speaking with undercover detectives from the New Jersey State Police’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
