Mesothelioma And Asbestos Exposure
NEBRASKA: MESOTHELIOMA LAWYERS HELP NE ASBESTOS VICTIMS
Every year, thousands of men and women across the country are diagnosed with mesothelioma, including many in Nebraska. Even more are diagnosed with lung cancer and asbestosis. Mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases could have been prevented if workers had been warned about the dangers of asbestos and had been properly protected from exposure to the deadly carcinogen.
Mesothelioma lawyers at LK believe that providing excellent legal representation for mesothelioma victims and their families requires compassion and care. Our attorneys, paralegals, and support staff understand and appreciate the trust your family gives us when allowing LK to handle your asbestos case. LK’s litigation team vigorously advocates for the legal rights of Nebraska mesothelioma patients and their family members. Our knowledge of the typical industries located throughout Nebraska allows us to stand up for your rights.
WERE YOU EXPOSED TO ASBESTOS AND DEVELOPED MESOTHELIOMA OR OTHER HEALTH ISSUES?
Nebraska’s Beef and Agriculture Industry
Mesothelioma attorneys at LK are experienced in investigating asbestos exposures suffered at the meat and agricultural worksites where thousands of Nebraska citizens worked for decades. Identifying the equipment and machinery regularly installed and maintained at these worksites is crucial to successfully prosecuting an asbestos case. Our mesothelioma lawyers are skilled in identifying the asbestos products that were present at these worksites.
Nebraska Food Processing
Recognized as one of the largest industries in Nebraska, food processing companies, located throughout Nebraska and Iowa, employed thousands of Nebraska citizens from the 1900s to current day. Between the 1940s and 1980s, major companies, including Cargill, ConAgra, and the Iowa Beef Packers processed and packaged beef, flour, sugar, wheat and other food products throughout the state. A prominent feature of these facilities were multilevel, technical refrigeration plants, which required continuous maintenance and repair. Food processing companies invested millions of dollars in refrigeration plants to preserve the quality of their outgoing food products. Unfortunately, many of these companies and the manufacturers of the refrigeration plants chose profits over the health and safety of their employees and customers, securing profits with asbestos-containing refrigeration plants while failing to warn employees and independent contractors of the dangers associated with exposure to airborne asbestos fibers. Other equipment and machines at these worksites, including boilers, furnaces, ovens, conveyor systems, elevators, gaskets, packings and bricks regularly contained asbestos. Between the 1940s and 1980s, thousands of food processing employees were exposed to airborne asbestos at these worksites.
Nebraska Stockyards
While many consider Chicago’s stockyards to have historically been the largest in the nation, stockyards in Nebraska grew to rival Chicago between the 1950s and 1980s before completely surpassing Chicago as the largest operators of stockyards in the country. In Omaha and many other cities throughout Nebraska, thousands of cattle, hogs and sheep were penned and sold to customers throughout the country. Operation of stockyards in Nebraska required critical support staff including transportation staff, rail operations, mechanics and laborers.
Supporting the food processing and stockyard industry were employees who performed critical but often overlooked duties. Mechanics maintained and replaced brakes, clutches and gaskets on the trucks which transported livestock to and from the stockyards and food processing plants. Train crews operated and serviced trains, including operating the engines and brake systems of the trains which made daily stops at these Nebraska worksites. Tradespeople maintained the vast refrigeration plants which kept the food products cool and suitable for sale. If you worked at one of these food processing plants or stockyards, mesothelioma lawyers at LK will assist you in determining the unique asbestos exposures you suffered.
Offutt Air Force Base
Located near Omaha, Nebraska, the Offutt Air Force Base has been in operation since 1918. Many skilled military personnel, civilian employees and independent contractors were exposed to asbestos at these military bases. Critical operations, including the service and repair of automobile and aviation equipment as well as the operation of machinery, including boilers and furnaces, required work with and around asbestos-containing products. LK proudly represents the families of retired military personnel who were exposed to asbestos at military bases throughout the country.
Deeter Foundry
Established in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1945, employees of the Deeter Foundry have produced iron castings and other related products for seventy years. High temperature equipment, including furnaces, ovens, ladles, cauldrons, and boilers were installed and operated, regularly requiring maintenance and repair. Mesothelioma lawyers at LK have represented numerous individuals who have been exposed to asbestos at foundries located throughout the country. If you or a loved one were exposed to asbestos at the Deeter Foundry and have developed an asbestos-related illness, contact LK for a free consultation.
Nebraska Power Plants
Nebraska is the only state in the country to be served entirely by consumer-owned power entities. Due to this unique situation, numerous small, independently owned power generating cooperatives were established and operated throughout Nebraska between the 1930s and 1990s. Mesothelioma lawyers at LK have represented numerous power plant employees and independent contractors who were exposed to high levels of asbestos dust at power plants across the country.
Due to the presence of various pieces of equipment and machinery throughout a power plant which were repaired on a regular basis, there are many sources of exposure which must be investigated. Power plant employees and independent contractors regularly worked with and around asbestos-containing products at these Nebraska worksites. During your free consultation with an LK attorney, we will explain the traditional and unique exposures suffered by individuals present at a powerhouse.
Individual Case Review
In Nebraska, and across the country, many people also developed mesothelioma from non-occupational asbestos exposures, such as automotive work, home renovations and other hobbies, or from “second-hand asbestos exposure,” which occurred when work clothes contaminated with asbestos were worn home. An experienced LK attorney will assist your family in determining all possible sources of your exposure to asbestos dust.
Nebraska Worksites
Many individuals in Nebraska were exposed to asbestos while employed at various types businesses. If you were employed at a worksite in Nebraska, including one of the locations listed below, and have developed an asbestos-related illness, mesothelioma lawyers at LK can help. We understand the emotional pain and stress caused by the diagnoses of these diseases. Attorneys at LK will represent your family with the compassion and zealousness that your family deserves.

Each new generation of mesothelioma attorneys at the firm acquires the skills, techniques, and knowledge of our senior partners through mentoring relationships. Not only does this benefit every lawyer, but it also benefits our clients in the form of consistently successful representation.
A Long History of Success in Mesothelioma Cases
Countless lawyers who advertise themselves as mesothelioma attorneys have never actually handled an asbestos case before. In fact, they refer them out to real mesothelioma lawyers for a fee.
That is not how we operate.
We are true, experienced mesothelioma attorneys who personally work on each case from beginning to end. We are always happy to meet our clients, whether at our New York, New Jersey, California, Georgia, Washington, or Maryland offices, at a client’s home or hospital, or anywhere in the country.
Our legal team has succeeded by negotiating tirelessly with manufacturers of asbestos products and their insurance companies, no matter how influential or uncooperative they are. We are even often able to recover compensation from companies that have long been bankrupt.
Most defense lawyers are familiar with our solid reputation and credentials and know in advance that we will not settle for less than the best possible offer. They know that we build every mesothelioma and asbestos case as if it is going to trial, and we have taken hundreds of cases to juries when a fair settlement had not been offered.
The mesothelioma attorneys at Levy Konigsberg have also served as lead counsel in major state and federal mass consolidation cases designed to benefit many hundreds of people diagnosed with mesothelioma and other types of asbestos-related diseases.
We are proud of the work our lawyers do on behalf of our clients, often in groundbreaking cases against the toughest defendants. Our law firm has obtained landmark asbestos and mesothelioma jury verdicts for exposures to welding rods, cable, asbestos gaskets and packing, commercial talc, and industrial equipment, including the first-ever jury verdicts against welding rod, cable, and commercial talk manufacturers.
Our law firm is frequently referenced by the legal press for our association with the largest and landmark asbestos and mesothelioma verdicts in virtually every category, including various jurisdictions, types of asbestos products involved, and forms of asbestos exposure.
We have recovered hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation for victims of mesothelioma and asbestos cancers, and we are prepared to fight for you.
Providing Your Case with the Individual Attention It Deserves
Unfortunately, many law firms today use a generalized approach to handling cases of the same type, even those as complex as mesothelioma cases.
With a goal of cutting back on the time spent on each case, they use broad-brush practices and techniques to process cases as fast as they can, often risking the possibility of missing important details in a case and, thus, undermining the goal of negotiating the best possible compensation for their clients.
Contrary to such mentality, we treat every case as if it was our only one. We investigate each case with a team of lawyers, paralegals, and leading experts in the field, all while being in constant communication with the clients, to ensure that we have done everything we could to reach the full potential of each individual case.
In many courts, mesothelioma cases are treated urgently and given high priority. This is particularly true if the claimant is alive. In some jurisdictions, the entire case can be resolved within four to five months; in others, it can take longer.
Here, at Levy Konigsberg, our mesothelioma cancer attorneys do everything possible to avoid delays and move our clients’ cases as quickly as we can. We accomplish this in large part due to the coordinated work of our team members and the fact that every mesothelioma case goes through a strict control and supervision, including regular follow-ups and reviews by the lead lawyers.
Our mesothelioma attorneys update clients on a regular basis, so that they always know of every important development on their case and that it is being taken care of. Our lawyers and support staff take every phone call with a high level of priority and try to answer them on the spot.
If unavailable at that very moment, we call clients back as promptly as possible. It is not uncommon that our mesothelioma attorneys provide clients with their personal cell phone numbers to address any urgent questions that the clients may have in the future.

ATTENTION: Mesothelioma has no known cure and often causes severe pain, suffering, and other types of damage, such as loss of consortium, and loss of income. Additionally, due to the exceedingly high cost of mesothelioma treatments, many families exhaust savings and accumulate financial debt in order to pay for the medical expenses of their family member.
Under the law of most states, pain and suffering from mesothelioma may be compensated through the award of money damages, usually obtained with the help of experienced mesothelioma attorneys. In some states other types of damages may also be recovered.
Asbestos litigation affords mesothelioma victims the opportunity to receive financial compensation and hold accountable the companies that caused their asbestos exposure.
IMPORTANT: If you or your family member has been diagnosed with mesothelioma, you should get in touch with a mesothelioma lawyer as early as possible to determine if you have a mesothelioma case and to:
- Preserve your rights to bring a legal action against the responsible parties within the limited time frame allowed by law, known as statute of limitations;
- Obtain maximum compensation in your case by being able to:
- Preserve evidence and establish facts of the asbestos exposure while the claimant is still alive and able to provide information;
- File and resolve a lawsuit against the responsible parties before they file for bankruptcy or, if they already have, to obtain compensation before their bankruptcy trust funds run out of money;
- Expedite your case, as courts tend to give higher priority to mesothelioma lawsuits where the claimant is still alive.
NOTE: We have offices located in New York, New Jersey, California, Georgia, Washington, and Maryland. Many of our mesothelioma lawyers are licensed to practice law in a number of U.S. states and have the capability and extensive experience of representing mesothelioma clients throughout the United States. Later, in 1985, he formed Levy Konigsberg with a mission to apply his extensive experience and legal knowledge to seek justice and financial compensation on behalf of asbestos and mesothelioma victims across the United States.
