Jacob Jordan is a partner at Levy Konigsberg whose current practice focuses primarily on the firm’s institutional sex abuse and civil rights practice areas, in which he is taking a leading role in the firm’s litigation efforts against the State of Illinois and Cook County in representing hundreds of survivors of sexual abuse occurring while incarcerated in juvenile detention centers. In 2023, Jacob obtained high-impact rulings in two civil rights cases in federal court in Mississippi. The first ruling involved the untimely death of Robert Loggins in police custody at the Grenada County Jail. Judge Sharion Aycock issued an extensive 85-page opinion denying qualified immunity to five police officers and denying all other Defendants’ motions to dismiss. The parties reached a confidential settlement in 2024. In another case, Jacob represented thousands of children poisoned by lead-contaminated drinking water in the City of Jackson, Mississippi. Jacob was pivotal in successfully defeating the motion to dismiss filed by the City of Jackson.

In addition to his ground-breaking work on institutional sex abuse and civil rights matters, Jacob is experienced in toxic tort cases including asbestos exposure, mesothelioma and water contamination.  In dozens of asbestos cases in New Jersey, Jacob played a principal role in the legal briefing involving scientific matters relating to asbestos in talcum powder products.

Prior to joining Levy Konigsberg in 2022, Jacob clerked for then-Chief United States District Judge Michael P. Mills before practicing law for nine years at the prominent Mississippi law firm of Tannehill Carmean, PLLC. There, his primary focus was representing clients in personal injury and civil rights litigation. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois, Mississippi, New York, and New Jersey.

Jacob obtained his juris doctorate in 2012 at the University of Mississippi School of Law, cum laude, and in 2022, he completed his LLM at New York University School of Law. At NYU, he completed intensive research and a curriculum centered in civil rights litigation. Prior to entering law school, Jacob obtained a Bachelor of Music from Florida State University and a Master of Music from the University of Texas at Austin, both in Classical Guitar Performance. Jacob received scholarships to attend each of these universities.

Jacob enjoys the cultural offerings of the city, spending time with his family, and reading. He lives in New York City and is still known to pick a song or two.
