EAST MEADOW, New York | April 15, 2015 – Lawyers and staff of Levy Konigsberg LLP (“LK”) joined fellow supporters to proudly participate in the 10th Annual New York 5K Walk/Run for Hope, which took place on April 12, 2015. Almost 200 people met in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, Long Island to raise money and awareness for those individuals, families, and friends that continue to battle or have valiantly fought and perished from this terrible disease. All proceeds raised will go to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (Meso Foundation), a 501 (c) (3) organization that has awarded over $9 million in grants for mesothelioma research since its inception in 2000.

Families, advocates, physicians, and researchers have united with the Meso Foundation to fight mesothelioma. Two Long Island women, Erica Iacono and Janice Malkotsis, have dedicated their lives to raising awareness and funds, contributing over $150K in seven years. Their mission began after losing their fathers to mesothelioma: Erica’s father, Anthony, a NYC school teacher, died of pleural mesothelioma in 2000, and Janice’s father, Joseph, a construction worker, succumbed to peritoneal mesothelioma in 2003. Now, they work tirelessly to support research for new treatments and a cure.
